Ionizing radiation can cause serious health complications for those who are exposed to it. Members of the general industry workforce often have more extensive contact with this radiation than those in other regulated industries. After completing this course, participants will become more aware of the risk that ionizing radiation poses against them and where it’s commonly found. They will also learn about the most common routes of ionizing radiation exposure, how to tell if they’ve been exposed, and how to read important signs, labels, and physical agent data sheets (PADS).

Participants will also gain familiarization with the regulations outlined by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurement (NCRP), and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). They will be well-equipped to target and eliminate ionizing radiation hazards in their general industry workplaces upon completion of this course.
