Construction workers often perform tasks in confined spaces such as sewers, manholes, crawlspaces, and tanks. These spaces can present safety challenges, including how to exit in an emergency, exposure to toxic substances, electrocutions, explosions, and asphyxiation. In New York City, Local Law 196 of 2017 (LL196) requires that workers and supervisors receive safety training if their sites designate a construction supervisor, site safety coordinator, or site safety manager. Once fully phased-in, this law mandates that workers at certain worksites receive 40 hours of safety training and supervisors receive 62 hours of safety training.
NYC SST-202 1-Hour Confined Space Entry is an awareness-level online course designed to help you as you work towards obtaining a Site Safety Training Card (SST). It presents the latest Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, key definitions, safety hazards, worksite roles, rescue principles, and safety guidelines for all workers.
